Reminders

Posted by Stephanie

You know how you look at or smell something and it reminds you of something?  I love the way you smell crayons and it takes you back to your childhood or you see a shell and you think of a special beach vacation.  I especially love everyday items that I use often that helps me remember people.  I have this one pen.  It is a pen that advertised my friend’s gym.  I remember the day she gave it to me.  She said that she never understood companies that gave away cheap promotional pens that people probably wouldn’t use.  You want to give them a good quality pen that they will love and want to use, so they will remember you.  That was three years ago and my friend has since passed away.  I still have that pen and always remember her when I use it.

Growing Up

Posted by Stephanie

I went to Walmart yesterday to get Blake a facial cleanser.  His face is beginning to get worse partly because he forgets to wash his face!!  Memories flooded my mind as I panned over the available products.  I use to use Neutrogena in the form of that orange transparent like bar and then I would saturate a cotton ball with Sea Breeze and rub it all over my face to make it tingle.   And, of course, I would use Oxy 10 when I had a major breakout.  There was nothing like waking up with white crusty blotches all over your face and praying that once you washed them away your pimple would magically be gone. At one point in my teenage years I had to visit the dermatologist.  I remember being sent home with a prescription for Tetracyclin, and a tube of Retin A with a video that explained how to use it.  I was set.

There are a ton more products to choose from nowadays. You see commercials all the time trying to sell you on the latest acne cure.  The latest that I have noticed is Tazorac. There are a lot of Tazorac reviews online.  For Blake, I decided that a cleansing pad would be something he might actually use rather than something that he has to lather on.  We shall see…

How to Take Great Candid Photos

Posted by Stephanie

With Spring, comes great photo opps.  Try these tips to take great candid photos.

Candid photography is by definition taking pictures of people when they are unaware.  Part of the fun in photography is catching your subject off guard so that your pictures have more emotion.  Photographers who work for magazines, like Time Life, have been able to get candid shots of their subjects.  Taking candid shots may appear easy although there are few techniques in the photography world that will make the candid shot worth more than just a snap shot of friends and family.

First and, of course, most important is to keep the subject in view while they are not paying attention.  The next step is training your eye to catch the moment.  You have to be able to move fast, but with design.  You need to have your camera set for the picture before you are even aware you will take the photograph.  The best way to do this if you have a digital or automatic camera is to keep it on the proper setting.  Manual cameras take moments to focus and can loose the candid shot if your subject becomes aware of you.

Candid photography relies on the light; however, you may not always get to choose the angle.  The angle could be where you are standing at the time.  As a photographer of candid photography, you know the importance of choosing the best angle at the right moment that is possible.

The entire point of candid photography is to gain the unguarded moments of a person’s emotions, whether it is tears, happiness, love, or other emotions.  While it is true, you need to have light, angle, and a good camera to catch the shot it is more important to observe.  Most photographers are trained observers.  Their eyes will wander over the crowds, landscape, or other setting searching for the perfect shot.  They will always have a camera ready.  It can be extremely hard when you are taking photographs of your friends because they tend to be more involved in the conversations or activity.

The key to taking candid photographs of your friends and family is to draw them away from the fact that you carry a camera.  If they forget, they are more likely going to act natural.  Some people tend to pose in front of the camera while others will shy away turning their backs when you get ready to take a photograph.  Knowing your friends will help you find the best way to take candid shots without their knowledge.

Observing, having the camera ready, and understanding the basics of photography will yield you better results when you try for a candid shot.  Posing or turning away from the camera will take away from the shot you hoped to attain so hanging to the side or a little ahead can get you the shot you may need.  Profiles make great candid shots because the person will not realize you are taking a photograph until you have already clicked the button.  Grab your camera and go for it!

Everyone Should Try a Colon Cleanse

Posted by Stephanie

So I wanted to do a colon cleanse.  I was excited about possibly losing my pot belly and a few pounds.  And I just really wanted to get healthy.  I read a colonix review and decided to try it.  It promised that I would pass all kinds of nasty things like rubbery like strings, green lumps, mucus, and even small worms.

I tried it and the first few days I was very bloated.  It may have been because I didn’ t drink enough water.  After awhile I started seeing results.  I even thought that I spotted some of those worms that I was promised.  It was hard for me to keep it up though because I experienced horrible flu like symptoms like nausea and headaches.  I know that this meant that it was working because my system was getting “shook up”.  I also didn’t like to drink that yucky powder mix.  I would much rather take a pill.

I would definitely try another colon cleanse, but one that didn’t require so many steps or powdery drink mixes.  Does anyone know of a good one?

Nadya Suleman and Weight Loss

Posted by Stephanie

Nadya Suleman, known to many as octomom, had 8 babies at once and has 14 kids altogether.  Whether you approve of what she did or not, you have to agree that she looks great.  She went from weighing 270 lbs to weighing 120 lbs.  That’s a 150 lb weight loss.

So what is her weight loss formula?

She goes to the gym 4 days a week and exercises for 3 hours.  Most of the time it is at midnight when she can get away.  She does have 3 nannies who help her as well as great friends.

Her workouts consist of full body weight training. She attributes this for not having hanging skin.  She also used a great stretch cream. She says that you have to do the lifting slowly with more determined movements.  She said in an interview with Star magazine, ” I see a lot of people doing repetitive weight stuff who are just going through the motions. If you go too quickly, it tricks the muscles and doesn’t really isolate anything.  People don’t want to do it the hard way, but that’s how it works!”

The Stair Master is her favorite cardio, but she contributes running after her kids as being her greatest source of cardio.

Also, a major part of her weight loss formula, is eating a healthy diet of foods like fish, yogurt, brown rice, and vegetables.  Best of all, she is training her kids to do the same.
